Community Action donates planters to Pequot Lakes

"When we heard that existing wood flower planters were in rough shape we decided to enlist the help of local artisan Josh Porter to help us with the new design for the flower planters. Of course, the design had to be a bobber, keeping with our town identity," said Barb Merritt, president of Community Action of Pequot Lakes. Community Action of Pequot Lakes donated bobber flower planters to the city of Pequot Lakes.

"This has been in the works for over a year," said Barb Merritt, president of Community Action of Pequot Lakes. "When we heard that existing wood flower planters were in rough shape we decided to enlist the help of local artisan Josh Porter to help us with the new design for the flower planters. Of course, the design had to be a bobber, keeping with our town identity."

Community Action of Pequot Lakes raised $8,600 to cover the planter costs. Find the planters at city hall, the chamber building, Cole Memorial Building and other places around town.

"There has been a lot of positive compliments on the planters since they have been placed around town. We have had some interest from businesses and residents wanting to purchase the planters for their own use," Merritt said.

Anyone interested in buying a planter can call Barb Merritt at Merritt Jewelers at 218-568-4695. There is a minimum of five planters per order, and each planter costs $575.
