The Nisswa Lions Club hosted two events at The Pickle Factory earlier this month.
Along with the club's weekly meat raffle, the Lions conducted a drive-thru diaper drive. People were encouraged to drive by with donated diapers and wipes. Those items were split into two groups and given to local nonproifts: Mid-Minnesota Women’s Center and Lakes Area Pregnancy Services.
The other event was a purse raffle. In 2019, the Lions hosted a Purse and Tool Belt Bingo. They had planned to host it again in 2020, but were unable to do so because of COVID-19. With diabetes as the fundraising goal, the Lions decided to host a purse raffle, raffling 21 high-end purses.
Only 250 tickets were sold for the event, which was sold out. The net proceeds from this raffle will go toward diabetes education, awareness and research. The club will meet to make a decision on how and where the proceeds are distributed.
