The Minnesota Department of Transportation has announced a project to reconstruct and improve access and safety along a stretch of Highway 371 from the south of Gull Lake Dam Road (Crow Wing County road 125) to north of Green Gables Road (Crow Wing County Road 126) in June of 2022.
The project will install three reduced conflict intersections at Gull Dam Road, Birchdale Road (the BIR main entrance) and Green Gables Road. The project will also resurface work areas with new asphalt including shoulders, turn lanes and adjacent connections. Underground pipes will also be replaced during the project and ditch drainage will be repaired.
The east frontage road will be extended and reconstructed to connect Birchdale Road and East Gull Lake Dam Road.
The west frontage road will be extended and reconstructed to connect Gull Lake Dam Road to north of Susanville Drive Northwest, the old drive-in movie theater entrance.
