40 years ago, Sept. 18, 1980

Florence Nachbar, Marvin Junkins, Harold Hartwig and Gerald Carlson are named officers at the Pequot Lakes American Legion.

Work is underway to repair the Pequot Lakes gym floor after a broken water pipe flooded the gym, causing extensive water damage.

30 years ago, Sept. 20, 1990

A storm tore through 17 miles of the lakes area, leaving a path of damage, especially in Mission Township and the Pelican Lake area.

A new town hall is built in Loon Lake Township, replacing the previous town hall that stood for 100 years.

On its 45th anniversary, Immaculate Heart Church in Crosslake blesses newly purchased land that will be the site of its new church facility.

Teresa Faust is named the 2010 Nisswa Citizen of the Year.

The Patriot girls’ cross-country team finished first overall at a home meet at Crosswoods Golf Course in Crosslake. The boys finished second behind Crosby-Ironton.
