The Pequot Lakes boys’ basketball team took fourth in the District 24 tournament, beating Backus before falling to Staples and Wadena.

Three Trout Lake cabins are destroyed in an early-morning fire. Arson is suspected.

30 years ago, March 21, 1991

Pequot Lakes junior Patti Koch was one of 10 finalists in the North Central Minnesota Citizen Bee in Brainerd.

Pine River graduate Dina Kangas, playing basketball at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, was a first-team selection for the NAIA All-American Women’s Team.

20 years ago, March 22, 2001

The walleye sculpture of Jenkins artist Jerome Brand is one of the featured items to be auctioned at the Big Fig Banquet at Breezy Point Resort. The event was a part of the Governor’s Fishing Opener.

10 years ago, March 17, 2011

The Patriot girls basketball team tops East Grand Forks for the Section 8-2A title, cruising into the state tournament with a 28-1 record.

A “Plunge for the Puck” event is held at Manhattan Beach Lodge to raise money for Pequot Lakes Youth Hockey. Jumpers raised a total of $3,100.
