40 years ago, June 4, 1981

Freshman Katie Brine became the first Pequot Lakes girl in 10 years to compete at the state track and field meet, qualifying in the one- and two-mile runs.

Owner Peggy Heidt opens The Stylists, a new beauty shop at the Oasis Center in Pequot Lakes.

30 years ago, June 6, 1991

General John Vessey greeted Legionnaires in Pequot Lakes during the district convention on June 2. Vessey was a guest speaker and rode in the convention parade.


Herman Trebiatowski succeeded Donald Tepfer as postmaster of the Pequot Lakes Post Office.

20 years ago, June 7, 2001

The Pequot Lakes/Breezy Point chamber honored Bernice Rohde as Citizen of the Year and Dave Guenther as Employee of the Year.

The Nisswa Women’s Club awarded scholarships to Mandy Koep, David Schwen and Justin Backlund at its annual spring luncheon and fashion show.

10 years ago, June 2, 2011

Daniel Larson of Merrifield was found safe in the early hours of May 31 after spending a long, stormy night in the waters of Pelican Lake after his boat capsized.

Pequot Lakes has 25 athletes qualify for sections as both the boys and girls track teams take second place at the subsection meet.
