The Pequot Lakes School Board voted to re-elect Barb Uppgaard to another term as chair of the board. Gerry Brine was named vice chair, Eugene Kennedy was named clerk and Pat Tweed was named treasurer.

25 years ago, July 17, 1997

Five fire departments cooperated in stopping a blaze at Quarterdeck Resort that destroyed the restaurant on location. No one was injured in the fire.

John McDonald is hired as the principal of Pequot Lakes High School.

The Pequot Lakes Community Theater is set to perform “Midlife! The Crisis Musical.”

More than 1,000 runners competed in Crosslake’s Run for the Walleye and Nisswa’s Firecracker Run.
