40 years ago, Dec. 23, 1980

Bill Lamb became the first Pequot Lakes Boys Scout in 30 years to attain the rank of Eagle Scout.

Adrianne Mills, Scott Graves and Angela Mills were recipients of Pequot Brush Pilot Scholarships.

30 years ago, Dec. 27, 1990

The home of Dick and Pat Bies on Lake Ossawinnamakee was featured for its holiday decorations. The family’s decorations had been collected over a span of 40 years.

More than 25 volunteers gathered at the Nisswa City Hall to wrap gifts for the area “Toys for Tots” drive.

20 years ago, Dec. 29, 2000

Mary Etta Durham retired after 29 years as a cook in the Pequot Lakes School District.

The Pequot Lakes/Pine River-Backus Road Crew wrestling team moved to 4-0 after edging past Ottertail Central 35-34.

10 years ago, Dec. 23, 2010

Sgt. Michael A. Peterson of Pequot Lakes earned the American Patriot Award during a Minnesota Wild game. He is a Purple Heart recipient and retired veteran of the Minnesota Army National Guard.

The Patriot girls’ basketball team - ranked 10th in the state - pummeled Park Rapids by 66 points to remain undefeated.
