40 years ago, Aug. 13, 1981

Veteran pilot Mike Landecker was not injured when his Cessna float plane crashed into shallow water on Pelican Lake.

Nisswa Community School principal Robert Hurst received a distinguished service award from the National Association of Elementary School Principals in Washington, D.C.

30 years ago, Aug. 15, 1991

Mary Prince of Breezy Point is honored as Crow Wing County’s Outstanding Senior Citizen for 1991 due to her involvement in the Salvation Army and Pequot Lakes Senior Citizens Club.
