40 years ago, April 17, 1980

The Pequot Lakes Community Education Advisory Board will host a Home Talent Show April 18-19 with proceeds going to the summer theatre program. A dance line featuring Ron Foss, Joe Ruttger, Bob Christensen, Jack Swanstrom and Roger Schweiters was doing a version of “Sunnyside of the Street.”

30 years ago, April 19, 1990

Easter egg hunts were popular in the lakes area over the past weekend. A total of 120 eggs were hidden in the woods by the Nisswa American Legion. Other egg hunts took place in Crosslake, Pequot Lakes and Jenkins.

Eric Peterson was named Most Valuable Player of the Pequot Lakes/Crosslake Hockey Association Junior Gold team at the annual banquet. Peterson and Kip Abear were both captains and top scorers for the team.

20 years ago, April 20, 2000

Pequot Lakes High School junior Jeff Albertson was chosen president of the Minnesota Association of Student Councils. Another Pequot Lakes student, Heidi Johnson, managed his campaign.

Phil Markert, a 65-year-old weightlifter from Lake Shore, qualified for the World Master competition in Florida. Markert is a retired Ramsey County deputy sheriff.

10 years ago, April 15, 2010

Terry McGaughey received the lifetime achievement award from the Parks and Trails Council of Minnesota for his contributions to the outdoors. McGaughey was instrumental in the development of the Paul Bunyan Trail.
