Though prepared in case of rain, the Lakes Area United Way had nothing to worry about for its Saturday, July 17, Llama Llama Read-o-Rama event at Serenity Now Alpaca Farm outside of Jenkins.
The weather could not have been more fair, and the families gathered there to enjoy outdoor reading took advantage of the sunshine.
Children saw an alpaca fiber spinning demonstration and they met the Serenity Now alpacas and herd dog.
There were also emergency service vehicles present for them to marvel at, along with face painting, food, live musicians and the main event - books being read by area celebrities. Those celebrities included teachers, firefighters, law enforcement and other familiar community faces.
