'Jane Eyre' cast announced

Pequot Lakes Community Theater will host auditions for its production of “Jane Eyre” from 6-9 p.m. Monday-Tuesday, Dec. 16-17 in the high school theater.

A cast of 16 area performers will appear in the Gothic drama "Jane Eyre" to be staged by Pequot Lakes Community Theater on Feb. 28 and 29, March 1 and March 6-8 in the Pequot Lakes High School auditorium.

Christina Calvit dramatizes Charlotte Bronte's novel, which details Jane Eyre's (Stephanie White, Pequot Lakes) trials and tribulations as she comes to terms with her past and her feelings toward the solitary Edward Rochester (Harry J. Samuels, Pine River) master of Thornfield. The actions of Aunt Reed (Nicole Rothleutner, Pequot Lakes), Mr. Brocklehurst (Peter Herzog, Pequot Lakes) and Richard Mason (Phyl Bell, Brainerd) threaten Jane's future and happiness.

The cast also includes: Helen Burns (Claire Lundstrom, Backus), Mrs. Fairfax (Deb Binda, Merrifield), Adele Varens (Kari Brooks, Hackensack), Grace Poole and Diana Rivers (Shaina Walker, Pine River), Blanche Ingram and Bertha (Brianna Engels, Pequot Lakes), Mary Ingram (Lily Bleichner, Brainerd), Dr. Carter and Rev. Wood (Eddie Binda, Brainerd), Hannah (Beva Olson, Baxter), St. John Rivers (also Phyl Bell) and the Porter (Gary Binda, Merrifield).

Ben Gordon (Pine River) directs with assistance from BriOnna Haag (Pequot Lakes) as stage manager and featuring costumes by Sarah Jo Armstrong (Pine River), set design and construction by Mike Anderson (Baxter), and tech direction by Trevor Kile (Pine River). C.J. Anderson (Pequot Lakes) will supervise the special effects.

The Friday and Saturday showings will begin at 7:30 p.m., while the Sunday shows begin at 2 p.m.
