Pine River will have another new business that will open in the spring. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sturmer, formerly of Rush City, have purchased property along Highway 371 and expect to begin construction this fall of a brand new building that will house the popular Dairy Queen store.

Pine River residents who viewed the “Tonight Show” on Monday evening had a chance to see Jerome (Butch) Behme, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Behme of this city, who was in the audience.
The Weather Bureau honored three Cass County men Friday for their part in warning residents Aug. 6 of the tornadoes that moved into the county. A public service award was given to John Rohr, Pine River, the county civil defense director.
