After a year off due to COVID-19, Breezy Point Aviation Day returned Saturday, May 1, to one of its largest crowds.
"We fed 1,100 people," Breezy Point Airport manager Cliff Muller said in a text message. "(Event organizers) figured there were 1,200 to 1,500 people here. It was a wonderful turnout."
The event featured static displays of several aircraft and emergency vehicles, but no air shows or acrobatics at the airport. There was also a classic car show and a pig roast in the parking lot of the Commander.
Masks and social distancing were practiced around the food-serving area. As for the rest of the event, masks were encouraged but not required.
"Everything was safe and wonderful," Muller said. "All the firefighters emergency and medevac people were having fun."
