Each year the Ideal Community Service Organization recognizes one local volunteer in the community as Volunteer of the Year. In 2019, that honor was awarded to Jeff Feltmann, who has owned and operated the Old Milwaukee Saloon & Eatery at Ideal Corners in Ideal Township for 23 years.

Feltmann, along with Trina and staff, manages the Old Milwaukee Club year-round, keeping the friendly, hometown vibe of the Ideal Township community alive. Like any good neighbor, Feltmann and the Old Mil support many local groups and organizations, ICSO included.

As well as the Ideal Sno Pros, Crosslake Ideal Lions Club, Ideal Green Market Co-op and Peppy Pete's Salsa company, just to name a few, Feltmann has been a longtime volunteer firefighter with the Ideal Volunteer Fire Department. He is a chef, musician, singer, voice artist and local developer. ICSO appreciates his many contributions to the community.

At ICSO's annual membership meeting and breakfast held last fall at the Old Milwaukee Saloon & Eatery, members gathered for conversation and business. The group heard from keynote speaker Jodi Perry, from the Pine River Food Shelf. New board member terms were approved.

In 2019, ICSO donated more than $22,000 to the following: Christmas For Kids; Christmas for Vets wreaths; three local food shelves (Crosslake, Lakes Area and Pine River); Fun Books For Kids; Ideal Green Market Cooperative; Ideal Scholarship Foundation; Ideal Township Park (ball park fencing); Grad Blast for Pequot Lakes and Pine River-Backus high schools; Nothern Minnesota Railroad Heritage Association; Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Association; Pequot Lakes High School trap shoot team; Pequot Lakes High School robotics team; Pequot Lakes High School theatre program; Pine River-Backus Schools (Tiger Pride Day); school supplies for three community schools (Crosslake Community School, Pequot Lakes and Pine River-Backus); and the Whitefish Chain Yacht Club (lighted buoys).

In May 2019, the nonprofit Ideal Scholarship Foundation awarded two $3,200 scholarships to graduating seniors from Pequot Lakes High School. Adult scholarships are also available. To apply, go to and click "Resources," then "Adult Scholarships."

Donations would not be possible without the generous support of ICSO members, volunteer board members and the organization's charitable gambling sites Bites Grill & Bar in Pine River and Old Milwaukee Saloon & Eatery at Ideal Corners in Ideal Township.

Ideal Community Service Organization, Inc. is a nonprofit promoting the improvement of community and families of Ideal Township. ICSO members include full-time and part-time residents of Ideal Township.
