Despite a cool October evening, pirates, space aliens, dinosaurs and more all showed up at the Nisswa Pioneer Village on Saturday, Oct. 24, to celebrate an early Halloween outdoors.

At an event hosted by the Nisswa Area Historical Society, youngsters played a variety of games to win candy and prizes in the child-friendly, non-scary part of the evening. After 8 p.m., the gates opened for older kids to enjoy the haunted trail that included a variety of scary creatures.

A minimum $2 donation was collected with all profits going to the Outreach Program of Brainerd Lakes.

Masks and physical distancing were required, and the number of participants on the grounds at a time was regulated.
