The 20th annual Komen Brainerd Lakes Race for the Cure will wind through the neighborhoods west of Pequot Lakes High School on Saturday, June 29.

More than 100 runners and a few hundred walkers will cover the 5K course or 1K course starting at 9 a.m. on the track with most finishing by 10 a.m.

Residents should be aware of this "pink parade" and are asked to encourage them along the way. If temperatures are hot, some participants may appreciate going through a sprinkler. They will have a water stop at Sibley Park, about 1 ½ miles into the course.

Events will begin at 8 a.m. on the high school football field with a Survivor Celebration honoring those who have survived or are dealing with breast cancer. Family and friends will walk or run to raise funds to support patients and fund research.
