Browser Column: Retirement party for Erickson set Sept. 21

Friends and neighbors!

It's party time. We are celebrating my friend and companion, Muriel Erickson, for 32 years as head librarian of the Pine River Public Library. She is retiring this winter, so we are having an early party for those who go away in the fall.

I can't believe the time has flown so quickly. I also wonder what becomes of me. Will I also retire to the country where I will join my friend and feline companion, Gracie?

The party is Friday, Sept. 21, from 1-4 p.m. at our library. There will be cake and coffee. If you are planning to attend, please let us know by Monday, Sept.17, by contacting us at 218-587-4639 or We want to make sure there is cake enough for everyone!

September, by the way, is library card month. In conjunction with this we are planning a visit to the fourth grade at the school. We want to make sure all the young people are aware that they can have library cards!

You, friends and neighbors, can have a library card as well if you don't already. Our library is a wonderful place full of facts and adventures, games and videos, computers for public use.

I remain,
