A little - OK, a lot - of rain didn't stop 17 people and their pets from entering the ninth annual Pequot Lakes Pet Pageant on Saturday, June 16, in the parking lot of the Cole Memorial Building.

Olivia Waagmeester with her bunny, "Bun-Bun," won Best in Show after posing on the extremely wet red carpet. Both were dressed in pink tutus and both had white rabbit ears.

The Best Costume award went to Shannon Watkins and her poodles, Fifi and Maggie, who were dressed as Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox, with one poodle dyed completely blue and one wearing jean pants and a plaid shirt.

Sisters Erika Tweed and Maddy and Bea Norquist, along with Tweed's dog, Stella, won the Best Look A Like award. The Norquist girls were Thing One and Thing Two; Tweed was the Teacher of all Things; and Stella wore a Cat in the Hat hat.

Aaron Franzen's pet, Ziggy, a bearded dragon in a Batman cape, won the Most Unusual Pet award.

The Best Trick award went to Ron and his dog, Leo, who did tricks for treats.

Community Action of Pequot Lakes and the Babinski Foundation animal shelter are event co-sponsors. Look for more photos at pineandlakes.mycapture.com.
