The city of Nisswa and the Friends of Nisswa Lake Park announced a grand opening gathering to celebrate the development at the Nisswa Lake Park and Recreation Area.
The free event will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22. There will be food and drinks, door prizes, a presentation at 5:30 p.m. to thank donors and tours of the park.
Parking is available downtown and golf carts will be available to bring people through the tunnel to the park.
Nisswa Lake Park now has walking paths, pavilion, picnic tables, benches, docks and more.
An official sign welcomes explorers to the park, which is being developed on the west side of the Highway 371 tunnel that takes people from downtown Nisswa to the park and Nisswa Lake, and vice versa.
In addition to walking paths through the park, a pavilion and water garden were installed along with benches, picnic tables and garbage cans. The park features a bike shelter and flagpole overlooking Nisswa Lake.
Dock slips are available on Nisswa Lake at the park with signs directing people from the docks to the park and downtown. Signs at the end of the docks announce they are public docks and open for use.
Future park development is dependent upon fundraising. The Friends of Nisswa Lake Park organization continues to accept donations to complete the park development.
