The 33rd annual Camp Knutson Quilt Auction on Saturday, Aug. 10, will feature a variety of quilts.
The silent auction will occur from 9:30-11:30 a.m., followed by the live auction at noon. The auctioneer again this year will be Glen Fladeboe.
The silent and live auctions will feature a variety of items, including children’s quilts, traditional and modern graphic designs, antique and 1930s vintage quilts. Several items have embroidery, patriotic, Christmas and seasonal themes, which could be useful for decorative accents.
Several mystery quilts offer an interesting look at how colors interact when quilters use the same pattern for a quilt, but with different fabrics. A Brainerd area quilting group meets the third Saturday of the month and receives a pattern for a quilt block to construct before the next meeting. At the end of the year, each quilter reveals a completed quilt, using an identical pattern, but in different fabrics.
Viewing of live auction quilts will occur simultaneously with the silent auction. A "buy it now" option will be available for all the silent auction items. Absentee bidding will be offered in the live auction for bidders who cannot stay for the entire auction.
Food and refreshments will be available. Follow the yellow “Quilts Ahead” signs to reach the camp at 11148 Manhattan Point Blvd., Crosslake. Camp Knutson of Lutheran Social Service serves children with special and identified needs. The Camp Knutson Quilt Auction and the recent Night Under the Stars are the two major summer fundraisers benefiting Camp Knutson.
