Authors in Pine River
Local children’s author Susan Wardell and her book, “My Grandma’s Hands,” will be featured during story time at 10:15 a.m. Friday, July 12, at the Pine River Public Library.
Local author Craig Nagel will visit the library at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 15, to discuss stories from his newest book, “Looking Back: A 1950s Boyhood.”
Josh Duffee and his big band will return to Hackensack for a two-day music festival at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 12 and 13, at the Hackensack Community Building, sponsored by the Northwoods Arts Council. “The First Ladies of Song” will feature female vocalists of the big-band era. Band in the Park
Rockin’ Hill Band, an eight-piece group playing a variety of rock & roll, blues, jazz classics and more, will perform a free Band in the Park concert from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at Trailside Park in Pequot Lakes. The band features Adam Rees on guitar; Joe Sullivan on tenor, baritone and soprano sax and piano; Jim Henkemeyer on vibes; Craig Lunde and Christina Thell on vocals; Jim Hanson on keys and vocals; John Jambor on vocals and percussion; Terry Miles on bass; and Mike Owen on drums.
