The Outreach Program of Brainerd Lakes chose Sherri Delahunt, of Nisswa, as its Adult Volunteer of the Year for 2020.

Delahunt is a retired school teacher and volunteers her time at many different nonprofits in the Brainerd lakes area. Specific work she has done for The Outreach Program BLA include volunteering to package meals, participating in fundraising events, office and administrative help, as well as conducting a national effort to raise funds and facilitate packing events.

In 2019, Delahunt coordinated a meal packaging event in downtown Minneapolis as part of her Alpha Delta Kappa sorority (women educators) national convention. She and her alum raised more than $19,000 and packaged meals.

“Sherri is one of the most kindest hearted people I’ve ever met. She has so much love and compassion for others. It’s an honor to choose Sherri as our Volunteer of the Year 2020," Shawn Hansen, executive director at Outreach, said in a news release.
