Crosslake Ideal Lions preparing for summer events

Fishing, peach sales and blood donations among returning events this summer.

The Crosslake Ideal Lions Club is working on upcoming programs, including the Lions Fishing Tournament on Saturday, June 12, at Moonlite Bay in memory of Bob Ayd and Joe Doerfler, the tournament founders.

Registration packets will be sent to past contestants.

Peach sales will be held at the end of August. The exact time is determined by the natural ripening process. The last sale sold out in 12 hours and more than 200 individuals requested notification about the next sale. Notifications will go out three days before the peaches arrive from Colorado. Flyers will also be at local establishments.

The Lions will resume Red Cross blood drives with the next one on Sept. 9 at Crosslake Lutheran Church.

Crosslake Ideal Lions Club had a busy April starting with the EGGstravaganza where 168 Easter bags were distributed with the remaining bags donated to Pine Peaks and the Crosslake and Emily food shelves.

The club's diaper drive ends Friday, April 30. Donations will be given to the Mid-Minnesota Women's Center and Tri-County Community Action Partnership.

Roadside cleanup took place Saturday, April 24, with a strong volunteer turnout.
