A special meeting of the Crosslake Area Historical Society board was held Tuesday, May 19, to discuss the feasibility of opening the Historic Log Village for the 2020 summer season.

A list of pros and cons was compiled and discussed. After much soul searching and deliberation, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and uncertainty of future governor’s mandates, the board resolved to cancel the Memorial Day opening of the village and remain closed this year. All onsite programs and events are canceled.

The setting of the Historic Log Village Museum makes it difficult to monitor visitors to ensure their protection from the coronavirus. Visitors will be permitted to stroll through the village, but the historic buildings will not be opened to the public.

The board and volunteers will take advantage of this time to update the inventory of artifacts and clean and organize for the 2021 season. Regardless of the closure, the village grounds must be groomed through the summer season and volunteers will be needed.

Contact Linda Andrews at 513-807-0392 or Tom White at 612-644-5759 if you would be available to volunteer for these projects.
