Community Action of Pequot Lakes holds button design contest for Stars & Stripes Days

Buttons will be used for Stars and Stripes Days


Community Action of Pequot Lakes is holding a button design contest for Stars and Stripes Days in July.

The contest winner will receive $100 plus be promoted as the winner. Community Action will make the buttons and sell them to raise money for Stars and Stripes Days and other events.

Entry forms can be picked up at Merritt Jewelers or Red Ruby Art Gallery and Gifts.

The buttons will be 2 inches in diameter and can be any art form. Designs must be submitted by Thursday, April 15. The art will become property of Pequot Lakes Community Action upon submission.

Those who buy the buttons will receive special discounts during the event.

Nancy Vogt is editor of the Pineandlakes Echo Journal, a weekly newspaper that covers eight communities in the Pequot Lakes-Pine River areas - from Nisswa to Hackensack and Pequot Lakes to Crosslake.

She started as editor of the Lake Country Echo in July 2006, and continued in that role when the Lake Country Echo and the Pine River Journal combined in September 2013 to become the Pineandlakes Echo Journal. She worked for the Brainerd Dispatch from 1992-2006 in various roles.

She covers Nisswa, Pequot Lakes, Lake Shore and Crosslake city councils, as well as writes feature stories, news stories and personal columns (Vogt's Notes). She also takes photos at community events.
