Volunteers are asked to meet at 11 a.m. in the parking lot behind Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes. They will be instructed in the wreath hanging and assigned to a section in the city cemeteries with a team leader. The rural cemeteries were previously assigned volunteer coordinators.
Christmas for Vets is in its seventh year and those involved are proud to have expanded this veteran recognition program.
The annual cost of the wreath continues to be $15 per veteran, despite this year’s challenges in finding a new provider and rising costs of materials. Local businesses and families are asked to contribute to the cost, but additional funding is needed to insure every veteran is not forgotten.
