The Pine Mountaineer Senior Center in Backus will reopen Wednesday, March 31.

Staff members are asking that customers wear masks when entering the building. Hand sanitizer will be provided at several locations.

The center is a nonprofit organization that provides weekly hot meals at a low cost. It is run by volunteers and has been serving customers for more than 25 years.

The minimal food price is used to cover all food and building expenses with any remaining funds donated to community organizations. Donations have included the local food shelves, 4-H clubs and other youth organizations.

The center sells fresh baked cinnamon and caramel rolls at 8 a.m. every Wednesday with coffee or milk. Lunch hours are 10:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or while supplies last. Takeout service is available as well.

The senior center is located at 131 Front St. in Backus. Volunteers are always needed; call Sharon at 218-507-0551. Volunteers get free meals.
