Backus Lions to host Catch the Cash fundraiser Aug. 22

EchoJournalNEWS.JPG

Like many organizations, the Backus Lions Club has had to cancel fundraising events this year. The group canceled its annual yard sale, fly-in pancake breakfast and, due to a late season freeze, the annual peach sale.

The Lions hope to hold the annual craft and bake sale in November, and are still determined to support the community. They continue to support food shelves in Hackensack and Pine River along with Backus First Responders and firefighters. In addition, they support scholarships, Christmas for Children, other Pine River-Backus School events and other fund requests.

To keep fundraising efforts going, the Lions will host a new event, a Catch the Cash no-touch fundraiser, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, in the Backus American Legion parking lot. Participants will drive in, deposit their contributions while staying safe in their car, circle around and drive out.

Contributions will continue to support community needs as they always have.
