Apply now for Christmas for Kids aid

Christmas for Kids is a local community, nonprofit organization that brings Christmas gifts to less fortunate kids in the community. The goal is to reach all of the families in need and make their Christmas a happy one.

Christmas for Kids volunteers shop for each child individually from the information given in the applications they receive. Last year Christmas for Kids served 193 children between the Nisswa and Crosslake areas.

Any family in need of this service will need to fill out an application and return it by Wednesday, Dec. 4. Applications are available at the Crosslake Food Shelf, Crosslake Chamber of Commerce, Crosslake Community School, Pequot Lakes Chamber of Commerce, Lakes Area Food Shelf in Pequot Lakes, Eagle View Elementary School, Nisswa Chamber of Commerce, Nisswa Elementary School and Pineview Childcare in Crosslake.

The 12th annual Christmas for Kids Event will take place from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Maucieri’s in Crosslake, featuring vendors selling items for the gift-giving season, a silent auction from 4-6 p.m., and a live auction at 6 p.m. with Paul Nelson as the auctioneer.

The gift wrapping party will start at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Nisswa Community Center. No registration is needed. Bring scissors.

Christmas for Kids event would not be possible without the donations, volunteers and support from all the businesses and people in area communities.
