At its annual meeting in December, the Faith in Action board of directors recognized Mike Bohanon, of Hackensack, for his years of service to the board, including leading the organization as chairman of the board from 2013-2019.

Bohanon chaired 32 meetings and steered Faith in Action through 6 ½ years of steady growth in serving the communities of Cass County.

“Faith in Action is a great program for our small communities,” Bohanon said in a news release. “It’s an organization very close to my heart.”

Bohanon will continue as a Faith in Action volunteer, but will no longer be on the board of directors. He will continue adding to his lengthy resume as a volunteer, which included driving 14,400 miles and serving 1,267 hours helping his neighbors in need.

Bohanon also worked on 19 ramp-building and home modification projects and cooked seven Booya suppers and nine Evening in Tuscany spaghetti dinners as fundraisers for Faith in Action for Cass County.

A locally supported, nonprofit charitable organization, Faith in Action for Cass County coordinates volunteers who provide nonmedical, neighborly assistance to seniors, the disabled and people in need throughout Cass County. Faith in Action volunteers help with transportation, friendly visiting, respite for caregivers, light homemaking and chores, and basic home repair, and they build accessibility ramps.

Those with a little free time once in a while who would like to be a “compassionate volunteer helping people in need," might consider sharing their gifts and talents by becoming a community volunteer with Faith in Action. Volunteers can set their volunteer schedules and make a difference with a little time and caring.
