Tuck-A-Way Resort outside of Pine River on Lake Hattie Drive Northwest was selected by a panel of judges on Wednesday, Dec. 16, to receive not only the Pine River Chamber of Commerce's award for most lights, but also the best use of lights award, netting the resort a prize of $300 total in the business category.
Those who visit will have no doubt why Tuck-A-Way ran away with both top prizes. The resort owner decorated all nine cabins and much of the green space with lights, hard plastic snowmen, inflatables and Nativity scenes. Most cabins have their own lighting theme visible from the circle drive that runs through the resort.
The owner said he has long been decorating the cabins there for his mother, who enjoys the lights.
Tuck-A-Way is a new entrant to this year's contest along with Dan Pflugshaupt's new Lakeplace.com realty office in the former Ted Lundrigan Law Office space. Sherwood Florist once again placed in the contest with a $100 win for second place in best use of lights with Pflugshaupt's office winning $50 for third in that category.
River Fitness won second place for most lights, netting $100 in prizes followed by Trussworthy Components in third with $50.
Muriel Erickson was the sole entrant to the residential category, winning $150.
The home of city council member Tony DeSanto was also the winner of the people's choice award, winning $50.
