The Pine Mountaineer Backus Senior Center is celebrating its three-year anniversary.
The community was invited to celebrate from 10:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct 9, for a large plate of spaghetti with meatballs, garlic toast and free cake. There was also be a chance to win several drawings, one with a $50 prize.
The center is proud to have been able to serve 150 lunches the last three years, plus being able to donate to several local organizations.
Volunteers run the center, a nonprofit organization located at 131 Front St. in downtown Backus. The center serves a meal every Wednesday and is open to all with no membership or age requirement needed.
The center offers a home-cooked meal for $7.50 that includes a vegetable, potato, roll and a main entree. Examples include roast beef and pork, chicken, meatloaf, pork chops and others. The center also offers a smaller meal of soup and a sandwich for $4. Finish your meal with a piece of pie or cake.
At 8 a.m. Wednesdays, there are caramel and frosted cinnamon rolls for $1.50. Coffee and milk are also available.
