Employees of Nisswa-based MicroNet, Inc., providers of MemberZone and ChamberMaster member management software and services, recently participated in the Pequot Lakes High School Career Exploration Fair.
The goal of the program was to help students develop solid plans on how to achieve their post-secondary goals. Students in grades 10-12 were given the opportunity to sit down for mock interviews and Q&A sessions with career professionals representing dozens of industries.
MicroNet, Inc. was represented in both the information technology and marketing career clusters. Students identified two to three clusters that align with their strengths and interests. The MicroNet staff provided individual feedback and advised students on how best to pursue careers in those areas.
"The goal was that, by the end of this experience, each student walked away thinking critically about the next step in reaching their goals," said Principal Chip Rankin.
"It was amazing to hear about the kids' interests and their ideas for the future," said Marcy Weaver, MicroNet executive vice president. "The technology industry offers so many opportunities. It was great to explain, for instance, that our industry of course needs software designers, but also has a demand for those with experience in things like product development, sales, marketing communications and finance."
