The Nisswa Chamber of Commerce is looking to add two new board members. The chamber describes candidates as "caring, dynamic and committed individuals with current financial skills and a passion for our thriving downtown."

To ensure any new board members are appropriate for the role, the current board will review applicants and vote at the Nov. 21 meeting. Applicants will be notified by Dec. 1 and assigned terms will begin Jan. 1.

Monthly meetings are held on the fourth Thursday morning of each month.

Board member responsibilities include attendance at monthly board meetings where information is exchanged and decisions are made. Potential board members should plan to serve on at least one committee outside the monthly board meetings. The board develops committees to handle the workload of the board. In committees, board members can focus their attention and energy on one or two organizational concerns rather than on every problem and opportunity.

The board distributes its governing functions and responsibilities equitably among its members and positions itself to maximize effectiveness. The board of directors has up to 12 voting members. Terms are for three years and all board members must be in good standing at all times.
