Bean Hole Days Lowering The Beans

Kirk Larson (left) and Tim Hidde guide the last pot of beans into a bed of hot coals Tuesday at Trailside Park in Pequot Lakes. The tradition of Bean Hole Days traces its roots back to 1938, when bankers placed an iron kettle of beans in the ground to thank area farmers. Hundreds of people will line up at noon Wednesday for their free bowl of beans for the 30th consecutive year. Steve Kohls/Brainerd Dispatch Video
