I've worked at the Brainerd Dispatch with various duties since Dec. 7, 1983. Starting off as an Ad Designer and currently Director of Audience Development. The Dispatch has been an interesting and challenging place to work. I'm fortunate to have made many friends, both co-workers and customers.

Gerald A. “Jerry” Beske Redwood Falls Gerald A. “Jerry” Beske, 80, of Redwood Falls, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Military honors will be held following the service. Burial will be Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Backus. Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, from 4-7 p.m. at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and at the church Friday for one hour prior to services.
Brian John Tweed Pequot Lakes Brian John Tweed, 64, passed away peacefully on Dec. 1, 2012, surrounded by many loved ones after a courageous 12-year battle with colon cancer.
Troy David McClure Nisswa Troy David McClure, 27, of Nisswa, passed away in Florida on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, as the result of a motorcycle accident. He was born June 16, 1985, in St. Paul, Minn. Troy graduated from Brainerd High School in 2002 and served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He was studying to become a pilot at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla. Troy is survived by his parents, Tracy and Scott Dufour and Larry Oaks; sister, Brianna (Neil); brother, Brandon; and grandparents, Don and Joanne Dufour.
Richard E. Johnson Minneapolis and Crosslake Richard E. Johnson, 89, of Minneapolis and Crosslake, was preceded in death by wife, Elaine. He is survived by children, Greg (Barbara) Johnson, Scott (Shelley) Johnson, Gayle (Scott) Rangus and Cheryl (David) Topitzhofer; grandchildren, Hayley (Chad) Rafferty, Tyler (Ruth) Johnson, Kristofer Rangus, Heidi (Danyon) Sommers, Mike and Noelle Topitzhofer, Olivia and Madeline Knutson, and Lindzee Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Parker Johnson and Elsa Sommers.
Emery J. Humphrey Pine River Emery J. Humphrey, 94, of Pine River, passed away Dec. 1, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Emery was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; grandson, Mark Humphrey; parents, Guy and Ethel Humphrey; and brothers-in-law, Art Wiese and Dale Dyer.
Kimberly Jo (Endriss) Francis Pine River Kimberly Jo (Endriss) Francis was born Jan. 15, 1966, in Hampton, Iowa, the daughter of Glenn and Ethel Endriss, and passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at St. Cloud Hospital.
Patrick A. Borman Backus Patrick A. Borman, 63, of Backus, Minn., passed away Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd. Patrick was born June 24, 1949, the son of Alan and Mary Ann (Foss) Borman. He grew up in Backus and graduated from Backus High School. Patrick married Patty Blanchard on Aug. 26, 1985, in Sisseton, S.D. They lived their entire married life in Backus. Patrick worked many years at Ah-Gwah-Ching in Walker and for many years as a dispatcher at the Pine River-Backus School District bus garage.
Janet Ann Schmidt Crosslake Janet Ann Schmidt was born Jan. 1, 1933, in Minneapolis, Minn., to John and Mabel Waddick. She graduated from Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis in 1951. Janet married Richard Barry Schmidt on July 31, 1954, at St. Austin Catholic Church in Minneapolis. Janet and Barry were residents of Brooklyn Center, Minn., until 1990 when they retired to Crosslake, Minn. Barry and Janet had four children and seven grandchildren.
Donovan Peterson Crosby Donovan Peterson, 88, of Crosby and formerly of Merrifield and St. Louis Park, passed away Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at his home. He was born to Victor and Mae (Montgomery) Peterson on Aug. 14, 1924, in Huron, S.D. As a child, Don lived in several small towns in North Dakota and graduated from high school in Langdon, N.D., in 1942. He went on to attend North Dakota State University until enlisting in the U.S. Army, serving from 1942 to 1945 and earning the Combat Infantry Badge in Leyte PI, Okinawa, Japan.
Jean Ann (Wold) McChesney Formerly of Breezy Point Jean Ann (Wold) McChesney, 87, of Phoenix, Ariz., passed away Oct. 29, 2012, at Avista Senior Living in Phoenix. Jean was born July 10, 1925, in St. Ansgar, Iowa. Jean married Cassius H. “Mac” McChesney in 1944. They owned Mac’s Music Company in St. Cloud, Minn., until they retired to Arizona in 1976. Jean and Mac were longtime summer residents of Breezy Point, Minn.
