BY CLAIRE NAGEL Wednesday, April 30, at 6:30 p.m. is the time set for our next heritage program. We’ll be presenting Lauren Pelon’s program, “Music from the Backyard and Front Porch.” This presentation will feature music and stories of America’s indigenous people, songs and instruments of America’s many immigrants, and Pelon’s own compositions.
Through August, the library will highlight an exhibit on oral history taking. Nisswa resident Clarence Carlson grew up in Hibbing, the son of immigrants from the Finnish island of Ahland. As a 19-year-old, he entered World War II, where, as an infantryman, he participated in five famous battles. See Carlson’s comments and memories about his unique life experiences. Browse the table for ideas and books on how to take your own oral history or the oral history of a family member or friend.
