"We expected the harvest to be greater," said Christine Reisz, area wildlife supervisor for the Brainerd DNR office. "A lot of those permit areas went from lottery to hunter's choice - although 242 went to "management" this year - so we liberalized the season, and folks could take either a doe or an antlered deer. "I would expect that we are going to see a similar increase this year," said Christine Reisz, area wildlife supervisor for the Brainerd DNR office. "All of those permit areas are more liberal than they were last year. Every one of those areas is hunter's choice, except for 242 where folks can harvest two deer. I expect our harvest to go up across the board in the Brainerd lakes area." PineandLakes.com Illustration
