The Pequot Lakes/Pine River-Backus Road Crew looked solid at almost all weights as they outscored Deer River 62-9 and downed Walker-Hackensack-Akeley 65-15 in a triangular Dec. 6 at Pequot Lakes High School.
Against Deer River, the Road Crew won with eight pins. At 103 pounds, seventh-grader Drey Loge found himself behind 4-2 after two periods. He came back with a reverse and a penalty point and won 5-4.
Senior Joe Knutson (112) won with a pin at 2:29. Sophomore Cody Schrupp (119) was ahead 15-0 when he pinned his opponent. Freshman Chris Harrison (125) was taken down in the first period, but came back with two reverses and a near fall to win 9-6. Junior Nic Harrison (130) dominated his match before winning by fall.
Senior captain Nathan Waslaski (135) won with a pin in 1:34. Sophomore Levi Allen (140) showed good wrestling technique as he came away with a 14-6 win.
Junior captain Zach Humphrey (145) was defeated 9-4. Junior Dustin Campbell (152) went right at his adversary and with a bear hug got the pin in 43 seconds.
Andy Davidson, a sophomore who was injured half of last year, was pinned in his match at 160.
Co-captain Marcus Hernandez (171) took five seconds to put his opponent on his back and eventually won by fall at 1:45. Co-captain Pat Bresnahan (189) won by forfeit. Varsity newcomer Joe Marvin (215) showed confidence as he moved in for a pin in 1:40. Senior heavyweight Troy Griffith also won by forfeit ÊÊ

Against W-H-A, the Road Crew again dominated from the start as Loge had a near fall and two reverses to win 7-2. Knutson went straight at his opponent and earned a fall at 1:02 and Schrupp registered a pin after leading 13-3. Chris Harrison went in for a quick takedown and a pin at 1:44 and Nic Harrison had two takedowns before getting his pin. Waslaski got his second pin for the night at 2:36. He worked on setting up his opponent to go from a takedown right into a pin. Ê Allen dominated his match and came away with a 14-6 win.
Humphrey was defeated, but Dustin Campbell had two reversals and a near fall before getting his pin with four seconds left in the second period. Andy Davidson lost at 160, but Marcus Hernandez dominated his opponent and pinned him in 43 seconds. The Road Crew won the final three matches by forfeit.
