Once again, the proceeds from the Cass County Ambassador's Penny Wars have gone towards a worthy cause.
During the Cass County Fair the Ambassadors promote a Penny War competition between the various fair buildings - such as: horse, poultry, and non livestock exhibit building.
Fair-goers can support their favorite building by dropping pennies into that particular box.
However, if you wish to vote against a particular building you would drop in silver coins or even paper money, and that amount counts as negative points.
At the end of the fair, the barn with the most points wins a beautiful homemade trophy. Generally the Penny Wars generates about $100 in contributions, which the Ambassadors donate to the community.
This year, the 4-H Ambassadors donated half of the proceeds to the food shelf in Pillager.
The other half is being donated to the mitten trees, which are found in various places in Brainerd and Baxter.
The mitten tree holds the Christmas gift wishes of many children in need.
The Ambassadors hope to touch the hearts of the children and families that receive their gifts and food shelf items.
