Doris (Helm) Schuster, age 82, of Pine River, passed away Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Center, Pine River. She was born June 15, 1926, in the Fertile area to Charles and Mary (Nieworth) Helm. Upon graduation she went to Minneapolis to work. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Schuster on June 17, 1950 in Pine River, where they made their home for the next 58 years. They owned Ken's Super Market and later, Coast to Coast Hardware Store, retiring in 1981.
Doris was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and Catholic Women's group. Ken and Doris spent several winters in Arizona, and when that was no longer possible, they moved into the Heartland Apartments in Pine River. In December, 2006, they entered the Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Center, where they resided until their deaths.
Doris is survived by two daughters: JoAnn Hoefs (Duane) of Pequot Lakes, Janice Terwilliger (James) of Pillager; son, Tom Schuster of Brainerd; sister, Agnes Oftedahl of San Diego, CA; eight grandchildren, five great- grandchildren, two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, Kenneth (January 2008), her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Services were Nov. 11, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Pine River, with Father Bruce Engen officiating, with burial following at Pine Ridge Cemetery, Pine River.
Arrangements are with Kline Funeral Home, Pine River.
