The Department of Defense announced yesterday the death of a Minnesota National Guard Soldier supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
Spc. George W. Cauley, 24, of Walker, Minn., died Oct. 10 at Bagram, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained from an Improvised Explosive Device incident that occurred Oct. 7 in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
Cauley was assigned to the 114th Transportation Company, Duluth, Minn.
"We mourn the loss of this brave Soldier," said Maj. Gen. Larry Shellito, the Adjutant General of the Minnesota National Guard, "Please take a moment to reflect on the ultimate sacrifice made by Spc. Cauley. We will never forget his dedication, loyalty and bravery shown for the United States of America and the state of Minnesota. I ask that you keep Spc. Cauley, his family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers."
