Crow Wing County will host the next in a series of statewide public forums on the state's sesquicentennial, co-hosted by the Minnesota Sesquicentennial Commission.
The next "Plan for Our Future" forum will be hosted by the Region Five Development Commission from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Cragun's Resort in East Gull Lake. Everyone is welcome and no RSVP is required.
The purpose of the "Plan for Our Future" forums is to provide a snapshot of Minnesotans' ideas for the future at the crossroads of our 150th year. It will ask, and through citizen input, answer the question, "What type of state do you want to leave to your children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren? And, given where we're at right now, and the trends we see, what are the key issues and challenges we have to deal with to make that future real?"
There will be at least one "Plan for Our Future" forum in each of Minnesota's 87 counties in the hope that every Minnesotan will have the opportunity to weigh in. The Sesquicentennial is creating an online survey and discussion group at its Web site, www.mn150years.org, where individuals can add their voice to the discussion.
After all the forums have been held, the Sesquicentennial Commission will compile the results into a comprehensive document to be used as a blueprint for current and future leaders at regional, state and national levels concerning Minnesota's future.
