The Pine River-Backus varisty volleyball team finished off a strenuous schedule this week-playing four nights in a row for a total of 16 matches.
On Monday night they played the Laporte Wildcats, and the Tigers won in four matches.
PR-B won the first match 25-19. The match was tied up 3-3 early on but the Tigers slowly gained on the Wildcats and held them off for the win.
The Tigers lost the second match 16-25, but then they came back to win the third and fourth matches by scores of 25-17 and 25-14.

PR-B played the Sebeka Trojans in Sebeka on Tuesday night.
The Tigers managed to get the game to go all five matches, but in the end they couldn't pull off the win.
The Tigers lost the first two matches by scores of 12-25 and 23-25, and came back to win the third and fourth matches 25-20 and 25-22.
The Tigers started off really strong in the third match as they quickly went up 6-1, and the Trojans were unable to catch up as the Tigers stayed strong.
The final match was very close early on as it tied up 3-3 and then 5-5, and, before Sebeka took over the match, the Tigers took the lead 9-8.
Unfortunately, the Tigers were unable to stop the Trojans as they proceeded to get seven points in a row to take the final match and win the game 15-9.

The Tigers had a make-up game versus the Cass Lake-Bena Panthers on Wednesday. The game went into four matches as the Tigers won the first two matches by scores of 25-23 and 25-11.
The Tigers lost the third match 20-25, but came back and won the fourth match 25-21.
The fourth match was another close one as it was tied 16-16 and Cass Lake went up 20-16.
The Tigers scored another two points to make it 20-18 and Cass Lake responded with another point of their own making the score 21-18, but the Tigers got the ball back and added a point due to a kill by Crysta Christensen, and went on a six point run, that included two kills by Kendra Hamilton and an ace serve from Hannah Zaske, to end the match and win the game.

And finally, the Tigers defeated the Pequot Lakes Patriots on Thursday.
The Tigers won by scores of 25-22, 25-15, and 25-20.
In the first match the Patriots managed to keep score close, even tying it up at 19 all, but the Tigers pulled ahead again and won on an ace serve by Christensen.
The second match was not close at all as the Tigers had two 5-point runs and amassed 10 kills. The Tigers started off the third game by going up 7-1, and they never looked back as they took the win.

Coach Chelsea Eveland started the week as head coach replacing former head coach Collin Frazier who got a job in the Twin Cities.
"I think the girls have played pretty strong this week and have really adjusted to the coaching change," Eveland said. "They played a really tough game against Sebeka but we just couldn't pull it off."
