Owens/Gibbs: Eternally valuable instruction time

The Crosslake Community School Religious Release program will start in a few weeks; 70 out of the 115 students enrolled have signed up.

Obviously, a large number of parents think this is an important program. We have 12 hours total to have our instructional time make a difference. We believe studying and learning about Jesus Christ, the most influential man in history, is invaluable.

Last week's author said, "We need to advocate for our children." We are advocating for our children that we think faith-based instructional time is important.

If this program was done outside of school hours, it would not get as many students attending; and since we believe these are important lessons for the students to learn, we want as many of these students to be exposed as possible.

Both letters contend that this is "not an issue of a religious-basis." We agree. We contend that it is an issue of eternal value.

Jill Gibbs
