Cass County Board will hold a public hearing at the regular 9 a.m. county board meeting Nov. 18 at the courthouse in Walker on changes to the Land Use Ordinance and Subdivision and Platting Ordinance.
Copies are available for review on the county Web site, www.co.cass.mn.us, and from Environmental Services Department at the courthouse in Walker or by calling (218) 547-7241.
Recently the county board approved a conservation easement for the 240-acre Janett Bundy farm property east of Hackensack, which will prevent subdivision of the property in the future and maintain it as a rural farm and timberland property.
County Assessor Steve Kuha reported there were 42 foreclosed properties during the second quarter of 2008, compared with 38 last year. Of those, 26 were residential homesteads, 15 cabins and one commercial. Ten were located on lakes.
The majority (31) were valued under $200,000, with 29 having mortgages of less than $200,000. Only one was worth over $1 million. Twenty-four were located from Pine River south in the county, with the balance in northern Cass.
"We're very fortunate that's all there are here," Commissioner Jim Demgen said as another commissioner said he had seen a nine-page list of foreclosures in Wright County.
Environmental Services Director John Sumption reported the county has received about half the number of zoning permit applications as last year so far this year.
