Watch out!
The Crow Wing County/Deerwood law enforcement is running a nasty little speed trap on Highway 210 just south of Deerwood.
Because of the cross traffic on north/south bound Highway 6, the reduced speed zones there makes sense; but though the road is striped down to one lane each way, the pavement is four lanes wide with unobstructed sight lines ranging 50 feet or more over both sides of the right-of-way.
There's a rail spier to the south and parking lot on the north.
With the exception of congested summer weekends, traffic flows there at about 40 mph - the speed zone though is posted 30 mph and velocitized commuters don't even realize they're speeding.
This trap is run at night, and though the deputy assured me he guns both directions, I suspect most, if not all the $120 tags are issued to north/south bound tourists.
Note to sheriff: The only drivers going 30 on that stretch are the (cautious local) inebriates.
