Mounted Eagles Therapeutic Horsemanship Program will host its sixth annual Walk-N-Roll So They Can Ride fundraising event Saturday, Sept. 6.
The 6.2-mile trek will start at the Nisswa Chamber of Commerce and follow the Paul Bunyan Trail to the Trailside Center in Pequot Lakes, next to the Pequot Lakes Baptist Church.
Along with walkers; bicycles, wheel chairs, strollers, in-line skates and skateboards are welcome. The cost to participate is a minimum $25 pledge. Children under 9 are free.
There will be prizes awarded at the end of the trail. "Elvis" will greet, cheer and congratulate participants at the starting and finish lines.
Registration starts at 2 p.m. at Nisswa Chamber of Commerce and the walk begins at 3 p.m.
A Silent Auction and Spaghetti Dinner open to the public will run from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Trailside Center. Master of ceremonies will be David Allan Pundt. Live music and entertainment will be provided by the C.C. Chips Country Western Band.
The Walk-N-Roll awards ceremony will be at 6 p.m.
Spaghetti dinner tickets are $8 for ages 13 and older, $5 for ages 12 and under, and free for children under 5.
Mounted Eagles is a nonprofit organization that provides equine-assisted activities to people with physical, mental and/or emotional challenges and serves six counties in and around the Brainerd lakes area. Operating out of the Four Winds Horse Center south of Brainerd, the program has the capability to provide services for up to 150 riders per week with seven horses, four North American Riding for the Handicapped Association certified instructors and more than 50 volunteers.
Proceeds from this day's events will be used for operating expenses, including the care and feeding of the horses.
