The filing period for city, township and school board elections opened Aug. 26, and close Sept. 9.
Following is a roundup of area residents who have filed for positions through Tuesday, Sept. 2. The general election is Nov. 4.
Pequot Lakes: David Kennedy and Jack Schmidt have filed for mayor. Cathy Malecha is the current mayor.
Tom Ryan has filed for re-election to a four-year city council seat.
Craig Nagel's four-year council seat also is open, as is Jim Oraskovich's two-year council seat.
Jenkins: Mayor Jon Lubke has filed to retain his mayoral seat.
Also open are four-year council seats held by Dale Daudt and Cory Niskanen.
Breezy Point: JoAnn Weaver has filed to retain her mayoral seat.
Otto Schmid and Tom Nelson have filed for two open four-year council seats.
Kent Brothen is an incumbent council member whose seat is open.
Nelson was appointed to the council just last month after council member Pete Sauer resigned.
Nisswa: Mayor Brian Lehman has filed to retain his mayoral seat.
Filing for two open four-year council seats are incumbent Bob Draving, and Gary Johnson and Tina Foster.
Lenny Hodgson is the other incumbent council member whose seat is open.
Crosslake: Mayor Jay Andolshek has filed to retain his mayoral seat.
Council members Dean Swanson and Rusty Taubert have filed to retain their four-year council seats.
Lake Shore: Mayor John Terwilliger has filed to retain his mayoral seat. Lyle Klein has filed to retain a four-year council seat.
Also open is John Bukovich's four-year council seat.
East Gull Lake: Craig Keefe has filed for the four-year mayoral seat. Dave Kavanaugh is the incumbent mayor.
Incumbent Neal Gaalswyk has filed for a four-year council seat.
Carol Demgen's four-year council seat also is open.
Manhattan Beach: Mayor Paul Allen, council member Janis Allen and clerk/treasurer Barb Hanson's seats are open.
Emily: Russ Gustafson has filed for a council seat.
Seats held by Mayor George Pepek and council members Gerhart Hanson Jr. and Kent Rees are open.
Fifty Lakes: No one has filed. Open are seats held by Mayor Steve Dahlke and council members Greg Buchite and Ken Hersey.
Pequot Lakes School Board
Kim Bolz-Andolshek and Mark Liedl filed for four-year school board seats.
Four-year seats held by Bolz-Andolshek, Mike Clasen, David Kennedy and Jean Kraft are open.
A special election for two-year terms will be held for seats held by Curt Johnson and Liedl. Both were appointed to their positions in the last two years.
All filings remain open through Sept. 9.
Pine River-Backus and Crosby-Ironton also will have school board elections Nov. 4.
The following Crow Wing County area townships also will have elections: Gail Lake, Jenkins, Lake Edward, Little Pine, Mission, Pelican, Timothy and Wolford.
